Hip Arthritis (Osteoarthritis)

The cartilage of the hip gradually wears out, causing pain, stiffness, and difficulty walking.

Common Symptoms

  • Groin pain
  • Hip stiffness
  • Difficulty climbing stairs

  • Reduced range of motion

Avascular Necrosis (AVN) of the Hip

AVN occurs when the blood supply to the femoral head is reduced, leading to collapse of the hip joint.

Common Symptoms

  • Groin pain
  • Limping
  • Pain while walking
  • Reduced hip movement

Treatment

  • Medications (early stage)
  • Core decompression (early AVN)
  • Bone grafting (selected patients)
  • Total Hip Replacement in advanced stages

Hip Fractures

Hip fractures commonly occur in elderly patients after a fall and require urgent treatment.

  • Severe hip pain
  • Inability to stand or walk
  • Shortened leg
  • External rotation of the leg

Femoroacetabular Impingement (FAI)

Hip Labral Tear

Hip Bursitis

Hip Tendinitis

Inflammation of the tendons around the hip due to overuse or sports activities.

  • Weakness

  • Medications

Snapping Hip Syndrome

A condition where tendons snap over the hip bone, producing a clicking sensation.

  • Snapping or clicking
  • Pain during movement

  • Arthroscopic surgery (rarely needed)

Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH)

A condition where the hip joint does not develop normally. It may present in childhood or adulthood.
